Part I.Drama critics write reviews of plays to give their opinion of a performance. In one paragraph, write a review of Robert's play for his school newspaper. Use your imagination to fill in the details, but include details from the story, too.
In the play,The Last Stand, the students show how the Donner party turned on each other. The play took place during the pioneer times. One of the characters, Alfonso, made an interesting comment that if the Donner party came back they would be sorry for what they did. Belinda had the main part and the main character Robert, had a line to say. Robert was named after Robert De Niro who was a well known American movie actor. Belinda was mean and would slap boys and grind their faces in to the ground so that they bit chunks of the wormy earth. Robert was worried that he would mess up his lines, and that Belinda would be mad at him. He practiced his line so much that when people talked to him he just said,"nothing's wrong I can see". Robert memorized his line except on the day of the play he forgot them and sain "I can seee nothing wrong. Wrong is nothing I can see".Belinda was not mad at robert and everything worked out good.
You mixed a review of a fictitious presentation of the play with the story about the kids putting on the play. You should have imagined being in the audience and writing your reaction to the play. That's how you started, but then in the fifth sentence, you got away from the point of the questions.
2. What message or theme do you think the author is trying to get across in “The School Play”. Write at least two sentences, one to list the theme and one to explain how what happened in the story shows this theme.
I think that the theme is that you should try to do everything to your best ability and feel confident in what you do. People aren't always mad if you mess up.In the end, Belinda was not mad at Robert for messing up. Also if someone is making you mad ignore it and do your best.
Good idea!
3. Use each of the following vocabulary words in a sentence that relates to the story. Good sentences!
a. depleted
Robert's confidence was depleted on the night of the play.
b. smirks
